Leeds United are still keeping tabs on Burnley star Maxwel Cornet, according to 90min.

The Lowdown: Left-back hunt

The Whites are on the lookout for a new left-back, with Jesse Marsch using central defender Pascal Struijk in the problem position against Cagliari on Sunday.

Struijk may well get the nod on Saturday in Leeds’ Premier League opener with Wolves as Junior Firpo is out through injury and Leif Davis was sold to Ipswich Town.

Cornet, who scored a brilliant free-kick at Elland Road earlier this year, has been linked with Leeds earlier in the window, and it looks as if he is still of interest to Victor Orta, who would’ve seen that strike from the stands.

90min journalist Graeme Bailey shared a transfer update from West Ham on Wednesday.

He claimed that the Hammers are progressing in talks to sign Cornet, adding that Leeds are ‘keeping tabs on his situation’.

The Verdict: Perfect target

Cornet, hailed as ‘fabulous’ by Owen Hargreaves, can play as a left-back, out wide or even as a centre-forward, so would add plenty of versatility to Marsch's squad.

He also impressed for Burnley last season, contributing to ten goals in 26 Premier League games.

Leeds are after both a full-back and a forward before the deadline, so they could fill both positions with a move for the Ivorian, but it looks as if they may have to be quick to stand any chance of beating West Ham.
