Leeds United may now ‘accelerate’ a move for Club Brugge forward Noa Lang due to interest from Premier League rivals Everton.

The Lowdown: Lang aware of interest

The Whites appear to be on the search for a new forward this month due to ongoing injury issues to first-choice striker Patrick Bamford.

Lang, who can play centrally or out wide, has been on Victor Orta’s radar for a while and is thought to be ‘aware’ of interest from Yorkshire.

However, Everton have also been linked with a move for the versatile forward and transfer insider Dean Jones has been giving his views on what could play out.

The Latest: Jones’ comments

Jones was talking to GiveMeSport regarding Lang and what Leeds might do if Everton make a move for the player’s services.

He thinks that Andrea Radrizzani and the 49ers Enterprises ‘would probably try to accelerate’ an Elland Road move, with Lang eyeing a move to the Premier League.

“If they started to think that things were leaning that way, I think they would probably try to accelerate things from their side.

“At the moment, we don’t really know how it’s going to open up. We know that Noa Lang has ambitions to play in the Premier League.

“His eyes and ears are open to when that can happen. It doesn’t seem clear if that’s going to be right now or not.”

The Verdict: Look elsewhere?

Lang has scored 37 goals at senior level for club and country but is primarily a left-winger who can occupy a second-striker role if needed.

You could say that Jesse Marsch needs an out-and-out centre-forward due to Bamford’s struggles, so Lang may not be the correct target, despite possessing obvious talent.

It will be interesting to see if the club do make their move for the Club Brugge man, but we feel they should be looking at other attacking targets, potentially Southampton's Che Adams, who is a classic centre-forward with proven Premier League experience.
