Leeds United are thought to be ‘interested’ in a late move for Ajax’s Mohammed Kudus, but face competition from the likes of Newcastle United and Everton.

The Lowdown: Kudus profiled

Kudus is primarily a central midfielder but can also play as an attacking midfielder or even as a centre-forward.

The 22-year-old, labelled as a 'really exciting' player by London World correspondent Rahman Osman, has made 46 appearances for the Dutch giants after joining in 2020.

The Ghana international has scored 25 senior goals for club and country throughout his career and is under contract until 2025.

It looked as if Kudus was set to sign for Everton, however, a transfer appears to have stalled, and it seems as if Leeds are another side keen on his services.

According to Ghanasoccernet on Twitter, the leading publication for news on Ghanian players, Leeds are one of four English sides 'interested' in Kudus, alongside Newcastle, Tottenham and indeed Everton.

They claim in the last 48 hours that ‘no official offers are on the table’, but one of the four sides are asking ‘for a character reference from his former club FC Nordsjaelland’.

The Verdict: Could fit in…

Andrea Radrizzani and Victor Orta have gone after players this summer who can play in a number of areas, so Kudus would fit in well at Elland Road due to his versatility.

He’d be able to play as a number eight, number ten or even as a centre-forward and is still just 22 years of age, so you’d expect will improve in years to come.

Kudus is also valued at £9m by Transfermarkt, so a transfer appears to be in Leeds’ price range, meaning that this could be one to keep an eye on in the final days of the window.
