Leeds United correspondent Phil Hay has suggested that more contract talks with Jack Harrison are expected soon.

The Lowdown: Failed Leicester move

Harrison was heavily linked with a move to Leicester City in the final days of the January transfer window but, as we know, remained a Whites player.

However, it seems as if a move was closer than some may have expected, with Hay claiming the winger actually headed south for a medical with the Foxes in case an agreement was reached.

Leeds ended up backing away from a sale, and with the player’s contract set to expire in 18 months, new terms seem to be on the agenda at Elland Road.

The Latest: Contract claim

Hay shared a story for The Athletic on Wednesday, touching on Harrison amid speculation of a move to Leicester.

He said that interest in the player ran to the last hour of the window and added that ‘more contract talks with Harrison are expected soon’. Sky Sports have since claimed that the winger is actually set to sign a new long-term deal in Yorkshire.

The Verdict: Good news

Knowing that discussions over a new deal for Harrison are expected can only be viewed as good news. Extending Elland Road terms should help keep his valuation high heading into the summer, should the club wish to explore a sale once again.

However, Harrison, who YouTuber Conor McGilligan described as ‘superb’, has actually been one of the club’s best-performing players this season, as per WhoScored, with Jesse Marsch using the 26-year-old in a variety of attacking roles.

Therefore, should his consistent displays continue in the second half of the season, it could be wise to keep hold of his services for the foreseeable future, and hopefully, a fresh contract can be agreed over the coming months.
