Phil Hay is excited about Leeds United youngster Joe Gelhardt following a promising cameo in the Whites' 1-1 draw at home to Wolves.

The Lowdown: Gelhardt impresses against Wolves

Marcelo Bielsa's side faced an important Premier League clash on Saturday, desperately looking to get their season up and running.

Rodrigo's stoppage-time penalty ended up earning Leeds a point, in what could potentially be a turning point in their campaign.

Gelhardt came on just after the hour mark for just his second Premier League appearance and the 19-year-old produced an exciting cameo, winning the all-important spot kick in the dying minutes.

His overall performance was quite encouraging, winning five duels, posting a 100% passing accuracy rate and completing all three of his attempted dribbles, as per Sofascore.

Taking to Twitter after the game, Hay gave an eight-word verdict which suggests that Gelhardt could become a real gem for Leeds for years to come:

The journalist gushed: "Gelhardt's going to be a steal for £1m."

The Verdict: One for the future

With Patrick Bamford out injured, Leeds are badly in need of an attacking spark up front, and Gelhardt could possibly be that man to come in and fill the void, having found the net 17 times in 24 games for the Whites' under-23s.

At 19, he remains very young and raw, but he showed on Saturday what he is capable of producing and Bielsa may feel that the teenage prodigy is a genuine first team option from this point onwards.
