Leeds United correspondent Phil Hay has shared some under-the-radar news from Elland Road regarding former Manchester United scout Lyndon Tomlinson.

The Lowdown: Summer of change

It has been a very busy summer at Elland Road both on and off the pitch, with Jesse Marsch’s side getting the new Premier League campaign off to the perfect start with a 2-1 win over Wolves on Saturday.

Six first-team signings have been made, while Darko Gyabi and Sonny Perkins have joined the club’s academy ranks. Off the pitch, Rene Maric has arrived as Marsch’s assistant, while Ewan Sharp and Pierre Barrieu have also come in as first-team staff additions and Michael Skubala has taken over as under-21 head coach.

The Latest: Hay’s claim

Hay shared a story for The Athletic on Monday, communicating news of Paul Midgely - previously head of national academy recruitment at Elland Road - moving to Manchester City at the end of the previous campaign.

The Leeds correspondent added that the Whites advertised Midgely’s role in May and appear to have now appointed experienced scout Lyndon Tomlinson, who worked for rivals Manchester United last season.

The Verdict: Important role

It seems as if Tomlinson will have an important role to play on academy incomings at Elland Road, so he could be a key under-the-radar figure at the club.

Leeds have shown that they are willing to invest in youth and give them a chance in the first team, with a record eight teenagers making their Premier League debuts for the club last season.

Joe Gelhardt, Sam Greenwood and Crysencio Summerville have all signed new deals recently, so Tomlinson could be tasked with finding the next footballing gems across the country, looking to bring them to Thorp Arch.
