Phil Hay has delivered a late blow for Leeds United ahead of their trip to Wolves in the Premier League.
Writing for The Athletic, the football journalist has confirmed that Rodrigo will be ‘missing’ once again for the Elland Road faithful given that he has already missed their last three games in the top flight with a groin injury.
Rodrigo a big miss for Leeds
The former Valencia ace, currently valued at £22.5m by Transfermarkt, was a regular for Marcelo Bielsa’s team before his injury, as he had played in no fewer than 20 matches in total over all competitions in the 2020/21 term, scoring three goals and making one assist (Transfermarkt).
He has ranked relatively highly among his teammates in terms of average shots (1.8), key passes (1.3) and dribbles (0.8) per appearance so far this season (Whoscored), highlighting his influence and overall importance to the side.
Was Rodrigo a good signing by Leeds?
The Spain international has also received high praise from various pundits throughout the campaign, including former Whites star Jermaine Beckford, who described him as an ‘amazing’ player back in November of last year.
There is no doubt that the Peacocks are a stronger team with Rodrigo in it, and it will now be a tougher task to get all three points against Nuno Espirito Santo’s men which would see them climb into the top half of the table above Arsenal.
