Leeds United are believed to have reignited their interest in Marseille attacker Bamba Dieng, according to a new transfer rumour.

The Lowdown: Dieng linked with Leeds move

The 22-year-old has been linked with a move to the Whites in the recent past, with Jesse Marsch considering him a potentially strong attacking addition.

Dieng has only actually made one start for Marseille in Ligue 1 so far this season, but he is considered a bright young player with 17 caps for Senegal, four of which came at the 2022 World Cup.

It now looks as though Leeds could still swoop for the African starlet, although they are far from alone in showing an interest.

The Latest: Whites reignite interest

According to 90min, the Whites have 'resurrected their interest' in Dieng ahead of a potential transfer during the January window.

Leeds are one of five Premier League clubs in the mix, however, with Crystal Palace, West Ham, Leicester City and Everton all mentioned in the report, too.

The Verdict: Long-term capture

Dieng is a player of undoubted potential - he has been compared to Chelsea legend Didier Drogba by El-Hadji Diouf -  so he could be an intriguing signing by Leeds.

More quality and depth are required in attacking areas at Elland Road, given Patrick Bamford's injury troubles, and the Marseille man could provide just that, having netted 10 times in 50 matches for the French outfit and being labelled a “super” player by French journalist Robin Bairner.

At 22, Dieng's best days should lie ahead of him, and the fact that he can play anywhere across the frontline will surely appeal to Marsch.
