Leeds: Paddy Kenny talks up Che Adams transfer links

Leeds: Paddy Kenny talks up Che Adams transfer links -Leeds United News

Leeds United should look to sign Southampton striker Che Adams before the summer transfer window ends, according to former Whites goalkeeper Paddy Kenny.

The Lowdown: Adams linked with Leeds

Jesse Marsch is still eyeing up potential summer business between now and the end of August, as he looks to make his squad as formidable as possible for the new Premier League campaign.

One player who has been linked with a move to Leeds recently is Adams, for whom the Saints are reportedly willing to entertain offers in the coming weeks.

The Scotland international still has two remaining on his current contract at St Mary’s, so the Whites would potentially have to pay a hefty amount for his services.

The Latest: Kenny talks up Adams links

Speaking to Football Insider, Kenny said that Adams would be an ideal signing by Leeds, adding firepower and battling with Patrick Bamford for a starting berth in Marsch’s line-up.

The former Republic of Ireland goalkeeper said of the Southampton striker:

“He’s 26 but he has a lot of experience. It will be interesting to see if they can get him in. Leeds need to strengthen, they need a striker. Leeds struggled for goals last season and only just stayed up.

“If Adams comes in then it will also give Bamford a bit of competition and that is never a bad thing. He’s a Scottish international, he guarantees you goals, he is Premier League proven so I think it would be a decent signing.

“We know Leeds need a striker as soon as possible so maybe this is one that will happen.”

The Verdict: Shrewd potential addition

Adams ticks so many boxes when it comes to Leeds bringing in a new striker this summer, so Marsch should consider snapping him up before deadline day.

The 26-year-old has already shown that he can thrive in the Premier League, scoring 20 goals in the English top flight, while also being described as ‘fantastic’ by his manager Ralph Hasenhuttl.

Kenny is right in saying that Adams is someone who the Whites may need, given their sparsity of experienced centre-forward options and Bamford’s litany of injury woes over the last 12 months.

Also, at 26, the Scotland striker is at an ideal age in terms of being experienced (almost 300 senior club career appearances) but still having plenty of years ahead of him.
