Journalist Ben Jacobs has claimed that Leeds United aren't planning on selling Jack Harrison during the January transfer window.

The Lowdown: Harrison's future unclear

The Englishman is having a relatively quiet season for the Whites, making 16 appearances in the Premier League but only scoring once in that time.

Harrison has been linked with a move away from Elland Road in recent weeks, with Newcastle United potentially eyeing up a January move for him.

There are only nine days remaining in the transfer window, though, and a recent claim suggests that the 26-year-old could remain at Leeds for at least another few months.

The Latest: January stay expected

Speaking to GiveMeSport, Jacobs said that the Whites are not looking to get rid of Harrison this month, given their precarious position in the Premier League table.

The CBS Sports journalist said:

"I still think that at this point with Harrison, especially with Leeds still in trouble, they would rather keep him until at least the end of the season."

The Verdict: Right decision by Leeds

While Harrison's long-term future could lie away from Leeds, selling him in January makes little sense at all, especially at such a critical juncture in the season.

Jesse Marsch's side look likely to be in a relegation battle once again, and the winger's quality could help to steer them away from trouble, with the £50,000-per-week Harrison scoring 29 goals and registering 28 assists in his time at the club.

He has come up with huge moments during his time with the Whites, netting a memorable hat-trick at West Ham a year ago and scoring the stoppage time winner at Brentford which spared them from the drop last May.

Harrison has been described as 'absolutely magnificent' by former Elland Road idol Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink, and the hope is that he can hit top form in the second half of the season, before then potentially moving on in the summer.
