Leeds United striker Patrick Bamford has suffered a fresh injury setback, with journalist Adam Pope confirming that the player has picked up a hip issue in training.

The Lowdown: Injuries galore for Bamford

The 29-year-old has had such a frustrating time of things over the past year or so, continually finding himself in and out of the Whites team due to a litany of injury setbacks.

Bamford has been limited to only 11 starts in the Premier League since the beginning of last season and his World Cup dream has essentially died because of fitness woes.

A new setback has been confirmed in what is another big blow for the Leeds attacker.

The Latest: Another injury setback

Taking to Twitter, Pope said that Bamford picked up a hip injury in fairly strange circumstances in training prior to Saturday's win over Bournemouth.

The BBC broadcaster stated:

"Bamford picked up a hip injury when taking a penalty at the end of training. Hopefully he will be fit for Spurs away next week."

The Verdict: Cruel run for Bamford

This is such cruel news for Bamford, whose career has been impacted so negatively at the peak of his powers, having been described as 'exceptional' by Jurgen Klopp back in 2020/21, an injury-free campaign during which he scored 17 goals.

The Leeds hero simply can't stay fit for long periods nowadays and it is reaching the stage where his long-term value to the Whites may even be up for debate.

At 29, Bamford isn't getting any younger, and if these injury problems persist, it may be time to start thinking about signing replacements and eventually phasing him out of the team.
