Leeds United fans don't need to worry about Raphinha being lured away by Liverpool, with Goal's Neil Jones dismissing the links.

The lowdown

Transfer journalist Gianluigi Longari tweeted at the start of the month that Liverpool were 'leading the race' to sign Raphinha.

Manchester City and Manchester United were also said to be 'following' him.

Longari did add that the deal wouldn't be 'simple' because 'Leeds want to keep him'.

Only Patrick Bamford (24) was directly involved in more Premier League goals for Leeds than Raphinha (16) in his debut season.

The latest

Sources say that there is 'nothing' in rumours that £27million-rated Raphinha might make the move to Anfield, according to Goal's Liverpool correspondent Jones.

The report does point out that he shares an agent with compatriot and Liverpool midfielder Fabinho, but the transfer doesn't appear to be on the cards.

Liverpool's interest in Aston Villa's Ollie Watkins and Leicester's Harvey Barnes is thought to be more genuine.

The verdict

Leeds fans have reason to feel optimistic. A move to Liverpool looks a non-starter, Manchester United have just paid £73million to sign another winger in Jadon Sancho and Manchester City's attention seems to be focused on Jack Grealish.

Given that the hugely impressive Raphinha only signed last year and has three years left on his contract, you'd imagine Leeds would demand massive sums anyway.

If the Whites can ward off any interest in their stars this summer and add even more quality to the squad, they could definitely compete for Europe next season.

In other news, a European club has lowered its demands for this Leeds target.
