Leeds United will receive a number of transfer payments by the end of June, totalling almost £8m, Football Insider has revealed.
Preparations for the 2020/21 season are gradually taking shape as the Yorkshire club remain on course to return to the Premier League after a 16-year absence. Head Coach Marcelo Bielsa has masterminded the club’s consistent form this season which sees them sit top of the Championship table as things stand.
With the 2019/20 season set to resume on June 20, anticipation is slowly growing of the club’s long-awaited return to England’s top flight. Bielsa, who will seek to finish this season on a high as his first priority, will also be keen to look ahead to next term, assessing his squad for any potential areas in which he can strengthen.
He could be boosted in that mission by the reported injection of transfer payments, which according to Football Insider will be paid to the club by June 30.
The report stated that Leeds are due around £8m in unpaid transfer funds, which is either expected to be used on new players or go towards any potential financial problems the club may come up against due to the coronavirus pandemic and the postponement of fixtures over the last few months. The timing of this reported windfall therefore seems quite ideal.
