Leeds United have agreed to sign Celtic goalkeeper Rory Mahady, according to Football Insider.

The Lowdown: Academy additions

The Whites have been extremely busy this summer, with several new first-team players brought in at Elland Road.

However, the club have also found time to add to their academy ranks, with Darko Gyabi and Sonny Perkins joining from Manchester City and West Ham respectively.

Wilfried Gnonto could well be the next teenager to arrive in Yorkshire, and it appears as if the forward could be joined by Mahady, who first emerged on Victor Orta’s radar at the end of May.

The Latest: Mahady transfer update

Football Insider shared a development on Twitter regarding Leeds and Mahady in the last 24 hours.

They claimed that terms are sorted and a full agreement has been reached for the ‘rising star’, with Leeds beating Manchester City to Mahady’s services.

The Verdict: Future star?

Manchester City and Tottenham were also linked with Mahady at the end of May, so Leeds appear to be landing another academy coup ahead of the Champions League duo.

He has been regarded as ‘one of the best young keepers in Britain’ and only turned 16 last week, meaning that he can now sign his first professional deal.

You’d expect that he could go straight into the under-18s alongside fellow new signings Charlie Crew and Max McFadden, with a view of progressing through the Thorp Arch academy system over the coming years.
