Leeds United midfielder Mateusz Klich is out of this afternoon's game against Tottenham with a knee injury, Phil Hay has reported.

The Lowdown: Klich's season so far

Klich, who David Prutton has described as an 'unsung hero' for the Whites, is yet to make a Premier League start this season, featuring in just 188 minutes of top-flight action.

The 32-year-old played the entirety of Leeds' 1-0 defeat to Wolves in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday and has since learned that he won't be heading to the World Cup with Poland. It has now gone from bad to worse for the player, who won't be available for selection in north London today due to a new injury.

The Latest: Hay's update on Leeds injuries

Hay relayed comments from Jessee Marsch's pre-match press conference from Thorp Arch on Friday.

The reliable reporter shared news on Klich, saying that he 'won't play' against Spurs after picking up a 'knee problem'. Patrick Bamford also won't feature today, while Jack Harrison is a doubt with a muscle issue.

The Verdict: Not ideal

Klich has been one of the club's most experienced options from the bench this season and, despite not starting once, has been used on 11 occasions during the current top-flight campaign.

Therefore, knowing that he won't be making the trip to Tottenham isn't ideal news for Marsch as he looks to guide the Yorkshire club to a run of three league games unbeaten prior to the break for the World Cup.

His absence will potentially bring an opportunity for a younger player to take his place, though, with someone like Darko Gyabi possibly benefitting after the teenager started alongside Klich against Wolves in midweek.
