Leeds United aren’t in contact with Bamba Dieng’s representatives about a possible January move to the Premier League.

The Lowdown: Deadline Day drama

It looked as if the Whites were on course to sign the 22-year-old on deadline day, with Andrea Radrizzani even welcoming the player to the club on social media. However, the forward then opted to join Nice but subsequently failed his medical and remained a Marseille player.

Leeds brought in teenager Wilfried Gnonto from FC Zurich to soften the blow, and the club have now been name-checked once again when it comes to Dieng.

The Latest: Dieng transfer latest

The Daily Express relayed an update from transfer insider Jonathan Shrager on Saturday.

He claimed that, at this moment, Leeds haven’t been in contact with Dieng’s representatives regarding a transfer in the New Year.

The Verdict: Good idea…

As The Daily Express hinted, Leeds supporters may not exactly be on board with a winter swoop for Dieng anyway after he snubbed a move to Elland Road on deadline day. Therefore, it’s good to see that Leeds haven’t been in touch over a possible January transfer.

A new striker could be of use in 2023, though, especially if Patrick Bamford continues to struggle with injury, so how Jesse Marsch’s attacking ranks perform in the coming months will be interesting to see.
