Leeds United forward Tyler Roberts had an evening to forget for on-loan club QPR on Wednesday evening.

The Lowdown: QPR loan

Roberts, who joined Leeds back in 2018, was sent out on loan to QPR back in July. The 23-year-old scored just nine times in 108 appearances for the Whites but is still under contract at Elland Road until 2024.

He’s already missed three games through injury with the Championship side and once again struggled to make his mark on what was his third league start.

The Latest: Poor display

QPR boss Michael Beale selected Roberts to play as a centre-forward in a 4-3-3 system against Millwall, with the attacker coming up against fellow Leeds loanees Charlie Cresswell and Jamie Shackleton.

However, Roberts was comfortably the worst outfield performer at The Den, ending with a 6.2/10 SofaScore match rating.

The Wales international missed a big chance, lost 89% of his duels, gave possession away on ten occasions and committed two fouls. He was replaced after 78 minutes for Lyndon Dykes, with the visitors running out 2-0 winners.

The Verdict: Not going well

Roberts is still awaiting his first league goal for QPR and appears to be struggling back in the second tier. He would’ve been hoping to make a real impact in London, however, injuries and poor displays have followed him to the capital.

You’d expect that he’s doing his chances of a long-term future with Leeds under Jesse Marsch no real favours, but hopefully, he can stay fit and find some form over the coming months.

The player is still only 23 years of age and there is plenty of football left to be played this season, but a half-term report wouldn’t make for good reading at this moment in time.
