Leeds United have managed to return to where they belong as they are back in the Premier League for the first time in 16 years.
A lot of this has been due to the quality that manager Marcelo Bielsa has brought since joining in the summer of 2018. However, former Elland Road star Carlton Palmer believes plenty of this success is due to one man – Andrea Radrizzani.
Carlton Palmer’s comments on Andrea Radrizzani
Speaking exclusively to The Transfer Tavern about the Whites owner, Palmer said: “Well, he’s done a fantastic job and they’re back in the Premier League where they deserve to be. I think he got the right manager in Bielsa and he’s backed him. He knows what he’s doing.
“So it’s, you know, any Chairman that goes in there and puts his money where his mouth is as he has done, you have to say he’s done a fantastic job.”
Radrizzani has turned Leeds’ fortunes around
The Italian took over from the very controversial Massimo Celino back in the summer of 2017. It’s hard to disagree with Palmer about the fantastic job he has done, as just three years later, the club is in the Premier League and looking like they are here to stay.
Owners can make or break a football club and one look towards the likes of West Ham or Newcastle United shows exactly where it can go wrong. However, with Leeds one does see the club being successful and also treating the club as a community, a family even, not just a business.
If Bielsa can keep the club in the top flight, then they can definitely go on to achieve great things with Radrizzani at the helm.
