Many Leeds United fans have reacted to a tweet from Phil Hay regarding the resumption of the Championship on June 20.
Marcelo Bielsa and his players are on the verge of gaining promotion to the Premier League but they have been made to wait due to the postponement of fixtures due to the recent pandemic.
Having missed out on promotion last term, The Whites have bounced back with excellent form and they are fully expected to cement their top-flight return when fixtures return.
An announcement by the English Football League at the weekend on a return date for England’s second flight now sets that in motion with Leeds returning on June 20 to face Cardiff City.
Hay, who responded to the ‘provisional start date’, has also said that the games will be played ‘behind closed doors’, and his tweet has gained a response from fans.
Breaking – the EFL has set the weekend of June 20 as the provisional restart date for the 2019-20 Championship season. All matches behind closed doors. #lufc

Whilst some Leeds fans met the news with excitement, others revealed their nerves, perhaps understandably so having seen the club lose to Derby County in the play-off semi-final last term.
Sleepless nights and no fingernails but I can’t wait.
