Leeds United have impressed in their first season back in the top flight and the mood around the club is surely a great one. Gabriel Agbonlahor has made a very surprising claim about the club and a possible battle for a European spot.
What Agbonlahor had to say about Leeds
When asked whether Marcelo Bielsa’s side could challenge for a European place in the future, Agbonlahor told Football Insider: “With the new investment maybe they can spend some money, then definitely. Leeds aren’t that many players away – if they can get three or four more players in the right areas then definitely, they can look at the top six.
“We’ve seen how well they’ve done this season and it’s basically a Championship side. There’s definitely room for improvement and it’s exciting for those Leeds fans.”
Leeds aren’t here to battle relegation
With the victory over Palace on Monday night, Leeds are now in the top half of the division and only five points from seventh (SofaScore). This shows that they aren’t far away from battling for Europe.
With the club able to sign marquee players like Rodrigo due to their famous history and the fact that Marcelo Bielsa is a big attraction, Leeds really do have the foundations in place to make sure they are not consistently battling for relegation and are instead battling with the best sides in the division.
These are truly exciting times for the club, and the fact that Agbonlahor has noticed the potential of the club after only half a season back in the Premier League is something that Andrea Radrizzani should be very proud to hear.
