Leeds United would have been frustrated as they played poorly against Brighton and Hove Albion on Saturday. They ended up losing the match and manager Marcelo Bielsa has reflected on the defeat.
What Bielsa had to say about the loss
Journalist for The Athletic, Phil Hay quoted Bielsa after the game and he tweeted: ‘Bielsa agreed that Leeds didn’t play well today. Said one of the big issues was a lack of recoveries in Brighton’s half or near there box. Didn’t allow for dominance.’
Leeds need to bounce back quickly
The Whites were definitely second best as they made fewer interceptions and fewer clearances against the Seagulls (SofaScore). They also lost possession 158 times. Being so poor at keeping the ball, and getting less stuck in, definitely didn’t allow for any dominance like Bielsa said.
It will now be very worrying for the club. Leeds have not had the best start to 2021. They have lost all three matches they have played in, including the shock defeat to Crawley in the FA Cup. If the results on paper didn’t look bad enough, they have conceded seven goals and scored none, and this form can’t continue, or they will be dragged into a relegation dogfight.
