Presenter and YouTuber Conor McGilligan has torn into the Leeds United board amid an absence of talks over a new striker arriving in January.

The Lowdown: LUFC in need of a new forward

Patrick Bamford has recently suffered another injury setback which could see him out on the sidelines as he struggles to recover from his hernia operation, according to Football Insider.

This leaves Jesse Marsch's side in a very sticky situation and leaves Rodrigo as their man option up front. The Spaniard has had a strong league campaign with the Whites as he's netted 10 goals in 16 Premier League appearances.

However, with Bamford's on-and-off injury problems, Leeds may feel they need more options in that position.

Speaking on the One Leeds Fan Channel, McGilligan claimed 'the naivety of the club is shining through' amid their lack of activity this winter, with defensive signing Maximilian Wober their only acquisition so far.

He stated: "Stuart Dallas will probably be back before Patrick Bamford is back. He'll probably have more games this season than Patrick Bamford will have. How embarrassing is that?

"And that's no slight on Patrick Bamford - he can only do as much as he can do; he's probably trying to get back fit as quickly as he can for Leeds United.

"But the negligence and the naivety of the club is shining through again. There's been no talk of a new striker, which is difficult, for me, because I'm absolutely losing my mind when it comes to the planning of this club, and as I've said on multiple videos, they're clearly skint, or they're daft."

The Verdict: Leeds must boost their attacking options in January

The Whites haven't had issues scoring goals this season, as they have netted 25 times in the league, which is better than nine other Premier League sides.

However, should there be an injury to Rodrigo whilst Bamford is still out, they could be in big trouble. The 31-year-old's output accounts for 40% of their top-flight goals this term.

The club are battling for Premier League survival and despite sitting in 14th, they're only two points clear of the bottom three at present. Improving and bringing in new recruits to their squad in January will be essential if Leeds are to keep their league status, and they may regret relying on Bamford's recovery without sourcing another source of goals.
