Leeds United are reportedly still following Standard Liege midfielder Nicolas Raskin ahead of a possible move.

The Lowdown: Raskin profiled

Primarily a central midfielder, Raskin can also play in holding and attacking roles and is valued at £4.5m by Transfermarkt.

Hailed as 'incredible' by Liège women's Cecile De Gernier, the 21-year-old has made 78 appearances for his current employers, scoring four times and providing nine assists.

A Belgium U21 international, Raskin is entering the final 12 months of his contract, and after being linked with a summer move last month, Leeds have once again been name-checked in a further update.

The Latest: Whites ‘following’

Sports Witness relayed an update from Belgian outlet La Derniere Heure regarding Raskin on Tuesday.

They claimed that Standard Liege will be forced to sell the central midfielder over the coming months, with Leeds ‘following’ him closely.

Raskin is thought to be held ‘in high esteem’ by Elland Road chiefs, who could now make their move following this development.

The Verdict: Smart move?

Leeds appear to be closing in on Bayern Munich midfielder Marc Roca, however, they could still do with further reinforcements in that area ahead of Jesse Marsch’s first full season in charge, with Victor Orta working tirelessly in recent weeks.

Therefore, a move for Raskin, who is valued at just €5m by Standard Liege, could prove to be a smart one in the long run. He already has plenty of senior experience in his native country, is extremely versatile and has time on his side to improve.

Raskin also wouldn’t be under any major pressure to become a star in Yorkshire straight away, so he could be an ideal squad player for Marsch.
