Noel Whelan has given his reaction after Leeds United’s market value increased due to details of a new shirt sponsorship.
Life at Elland Road is currently thriving in all aspects with Marcelo Bielsa’s side impressing over the first few weeks of the Premier League season.
Spending just under the £100m mark during the transfer window, the Argentine coach has fully prepared his side for the season ahead, backed up by a number of key off-field decisions.
And with details emerging of how much the club’s current shirt sponsor deal is worth, the Whites could be in line for another boost. Football Insider report that the terms with SBOTOP are worth £15m across a three-year period.
Whelan raves about details of Leeds’ shirt sponsorship
The deal which was seen as the ‘largest commercial deal in the club’s history‘ has been discussed by former player Whelan, who told Football Insider: “Leeds United is a very easy, marketable commodity, that’s the thing. It’s a big club, big city and great history.
“It doesn’t surprise me with the marketing, Adidas, everyone knew straight away that when Leeds got into the Premier League, they wanted part of it because they know the following that they have, they know the marketing behind the football club and what that can bring.
“It’s a very strong organisation is Leeds United and everything at the minute, when you look back four years ago to where we were, it really is a massive change, it really is. Where we are now, financially we’re good, the team we have – the only sad thing is the supporters, not having them to share this with us.”
Off-field developments matching Bielsa’s excellent start
What a time to be a Leeds fan. Little is going wrong for the Yorkshire club at the moment, especially on the pitch.
An opening day defeat to champions Liverpool has been followed by a run of four games unbeaten, drawing 1-1 against Manchester City last time out prior to the current international break.
With developments in all areas of the club progressing well, everyone associated with Leeds can be delighted.
