Leeds United are yet to do any business and an update from Phil Hay has shed some light on whether fans of the club should get excited for transfer deadline day.
Phil Hay’s transfer update
Do Leeds need any reinforcements?
This update will not be the most surprising news for supporters of the club as Leeds rarely do any transfer business in January under Marcelo Bielsa. However, it is a damning one to any fans who were hoping for some defensive reinforcements.
The defensive situation, Robin Koch currently recovering from surgery and Diego Llorente picking up another injury, is very nearly a full scale disaster – the Whites have conceded 35 goals in 19 league games.
There is also an issue in attack, Patrick Bamford had been in good form, scoring ten in the division this season, however his form has dried up as he has not scored since the 27th of December. After him, the second top goal scorer is Jack Harrison, and he only has four goals.
So, given the lack of depth both at centre-back and in support of Bamford, perhaps fans should feel a little worried, if not surprised, by Hay’s update. In just three words, the journalist has damned the club to a very dull close to the transfer window.
