Leeds United have been without Kalvin Phillips for the last three games, and Phil Hay has provided an update in which he reveals whether the midfielder will be returning soon.
The latest on Phillips
Marcelo Bielsa was speaking before the upcoming Premier League match against Aston Villa. Sadly for supporters of the club, Phil Hay reported that the manager revealed that Phillips’ calf injury “could get worse if they time his comeback wrong so they’re being cautious.”
This is a disappointing blow for Leeds
Despite beating Southampton 3-0 in their last Premier League fixture, the return of Phillips is needed as soon as possible. This is due to the fact that the Whites don’t really have a natural replacement.
The £24.30m-valued ace was been vital in getting the club back into the Premier League, and has also become an England player, and the fact that he has made 200 appearances for the club already at the age of 25 emphasises how key he is to this Leeds side.
Former LUFC striker Noel Whelan highlighted just how ‘integral’ he is to the Yorkshire club when he gave his thoughts recently to Football Insider over Phillips’ injury.
He is a big reason as to why Leeds currently sit eleventh in the Premier League, as he has managed 2.7 tackles, 1.6 interceptions and 1.8 clearances a game (WhoScored). It is obviously a big blow for the club to have no definitive time set yet for his return.
