Leeds United will be full of confidence as they face West Brom later today, following their victory against Burnley on Sunday. However, they will also be frustrated by the latest news on summer signing Diego Llorente.
The latest on Llorente
Following the match against the Clarets, journalist Phil Hay tweeted: “Llorente had a set-back this week and is out again. He’ll also miss West Brom on Tuesday.”
This is another blow for Llorente and Leeds
Before joining the Premier League side, the six-cap Spain international racked up 247 club appearances and had 18 goals to his name (Transfermarkt), so he has enough experience to come in and thrive when fit and healthy.
However, he has had injury struggles since he signed for the club, but in his only Premier League appearance for Leeds, he shone against Chelsea as he made five tackles, four clearances and one interception (SofaScore). He also won five ground duels and four aerial duels.
Therefore, to see him out again will be very frustrating for all associated with the club. It is a very big blow because not only is he injured now, but it seems like the club picked up a very injury prone player.
Leeds battled to a hard-earned win over Burnley at the weekend without Llorente and they’ll need to do the same again later today to defeat West Brom.
Leeds had to use Kalvin Phillips at centre-half against Burnley and they might need to do the same at The Hawthorns in today’s 6pm clash.
In other news, Leeds have been tipped to sign a Premier League forward – read more about it.
