Leeds United: Phil Hay provides update on Alioski

Leeds United: Phil Hay provides update on Alioski - Leeds United News

Leeds United still haven’t sorted out the contract of Ezgjan Alioski with his current deal expiring in the summer. Marcelo Bielsa has now dropped the latest on the exit-linked star.

The latest on Alioski

Phil Hay was at Marcelo Bielsa’s press conference before the match against Leicester and reported a comment from the boss: “Most important is that he wants to stay. I think that if Alioski chooses Leeds, Leeds will choose Alioski.”

This sounds like a very positive update

Danny Mills commented on the player in the past and said: “Alioski has done fantastically at Leeds”. He’s not lying – the 28 year-old has played 152 times for the club (Transfermarkt) and was key in the side getting promoted to England’s top flight.

He has also featured 17 times in the Premier League this season and this highlights that he is still integral in Bielsa’s squad.

These comments from Bielsa are very positive as it emphasises the club want to keep him for the foreseeable. They suggest that they are just waiting for the North Macedonia international to pick them. This makes it sound quite likely that the contract will get extended as Alioski is a starting player and has progressed so much with Leeds, so it would make little sense for him to want to leave.
