Leeds United picked up a solid 2-0 victory over Crystal Palace on Monday night and Phil Hay heaped praise on defender Liam Cooper for his performance in the game.

Cooper shines for Leeds
The centre-back has had a tricky campaign as he had to deal with minor injury struggles towards the start of the season. However, he has shone for the club, managing, on average, 2.7 tackles, 2.6 interceptions and 3.1 clearances per game in his 16 Premier League appearances (WhoScored).
It was easy to see why Hay was so impressed by Cooper’s performance against Palace as he picked up a 7.7 rating, the second-best of anyone on the pitch.
He blocked two shots, made five tackles, won five ground duels and four aerial duels (SofaScore). The captain put in such a solid performance in defence that their opponents only managed three shots on target in the whole game.
The victory means that the club now sits in the top ten in the Premier League. This is a remarkable achievement for a promoted team and if the Scotsman continues to play so well, then that will go a long way to ensuring that Leeds finish the campaign in the top ten.
