Taking to Twitter, journalist Phil Hay has shared news of a 'big boost' for Leeds United, which has since been confirmed by new manager Jesse Marsch.

The Lowdown: Bamford sidelined...

The England international has been sidelined for the majority of this campaign following numerous fitness issues and a struggle to return.

Bamford, who last appeared for the Whites in a 2-2 draw against Brentford in December, has since suffered repeated setbacks in his recovery.

Following successive ankle and hip problems, the 28-year-old then sustained a foot injury, further delaying his return to the Leeds squad.

As new boss Marsch gears up for his first game in charge since Marcelo Bielsa's sacking, it appears the Elland Road side have been given a 'big boost' as Hay relays news out of Thorp Arch.

The Latest: Hay breaks 'big boost'...

Now, in news confirmed by Marsch after first being broken by Hay, Bamford is 'back on the grass' and in training - coming as a 'big boost' for Leeds.

He explained on Twitter.

"Leeds training this morning. Bamford back on the grass, which is a big boost for Marsch."

The new gaffer has even refused to rule out Bamford being on the bench against Leicester City, though unclear, but insists he is 'close' to a return (Twitter).

The Verdict: Major...

Bamford's return can't come soon enough for Leeds' new boss and it's safe to say the striker's added fire power will be welcome in the Yorkshire side's battle to avoid relegation.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is a huge fan of the player, having called him 'exceptional', and Marsch will need a player of his calibre back in action soon to boost Leeds' chances to stay in the Premier League.
