Leeds United face a massive Championship clash with Fulham on Saturday as the automatic promotion race hots up in England’s second tier.
The return to action last week for Marcelo Bielsa’s side after a break from football since March due to the pandemic saw them suffer a shock defeat to Cardiff City.
Defeat saw The Whites drop to second in the league table behind West Bromwich Albion, although only by goal difference.
Saturday’s 3pm GMT kick-off sees Leeds face off against a Fulham side who are looking to push for an automatic promotion place themselves, sitting seven points off the Yorkshire side in third place.
Heading into the game, Bielsa has some injury concerns which include both Jean-Kevin Augustin and Tyler Roberts, who are doubts for the game against Fulham. Pablo Hernandez is training once again after missing the defeat to Cardiff but the Spaniard may only get a place on the bench, whilst Kiko Casilla remains suspended (Yorkshire Post).
Here at the Transfer Tavern we have predicted how Leeds will line-up for this one, including just one change from the line-up against the Bluebirds.
Patrick Bamford will continue to hold down the number nine spot in Leeds’ side with Bielsa having very few options in attack, whilst Jack Harrison and Helder Costa will be expected to perform better than last week.
With Roberts doubtful, Stuart Dallas could move into the centre of the park from left-back. The Northern Irishman has played that role seven times already this term, so would be comfortable filling in. That would then mean that Ezgjan Alioski comes in to replace him on the left-side of defence.
Kalvin Phillips, who made a mistake leading to Cardiff’s first goal last weekend, will be looking for improvement as he provides security for the back four in the defensive midfield area.
