Leeds United boss Marcelo Bielsa will approach the tie with Sheffield United without Pablo Hernandez, but Liam Cooper has returned to full fitness.
Last weekend’s exciting 4-3 win over Fulham has set the tone for Leeds to go on and potentially grab a second victory this weekend.
However, they do face a Sheffield United side in desperate need of a result after defeats to Wolverhampton Wanderers and Aston Villa already this term. Here at the Transfer Tavern, we have predicted the Leeds starting XI at Bramall Lane and we anticipate no changes from the side which started against Fulham.
In between the sticks for the Whites, Illan Meslier will continue having proven to be Bielsa’s preferred option over Spaniard Kiko Casilla.
Luke Ayling and Stuart Dallas will play at right-back and left-back, respectively, whilst Robin Koch is expected to continue at the heart of defence and he could partner Cooper, who returned to action last week against Fulham. Diego Llorente has now signed from Real Sociedad and will put pressure on the duo, but it may be too early to throw him straight in and he is more likely to be on the bench.
Bielsa has confirmed that Hernandez is not available for this Yorkshire derby, which is a huge blow. The £1.08m-valued man was instrumental in their promotion campaign, netting nine and assisting nine in the Championship.
In his absence, Kalvin Phillips, Mateusz Klich, Helder Costa and Jack Harrison are expected to form an unfamiliar midfield four. That will allow Patrick Bamford to continue up front with summer signing Rodrigo Moreno, who replaced Hernandez in the XI last weekend, set to be given the nod alongside him.
