Leeds United boss Marcelo Bielsa will face another tricky Championship tie on Thursday night as the race for automatic promotion continues.
The Yorkshire club finished the last set of fixtures one point clear of West Bromwich Albion at the top of England’s second flight, and six points ahead of Brentford in third place.
A superb victory away at Blackburn Rovers last time out saw Bielsa make few changes to his starting eleven although both Helder Costa and Stuart Dallas missed out.
Spanish playmaker Pablo Hernandez continued on the bench and acted like an impact substitute, whilst Patrick Bamford continued in attack.
Here at the Transfer Tavern we have predicted how Leeds will line-up against Stoke City, with Bielsa making one change.
Both Costa and Dallas are both available for the match against Stoke on Thursday night and it is expected that the former will come straight back into the starting eleven. Indeed the £7.2m-valued man has been a regular this season having made 40 league appearances whilst participating in 11% of the Whites’ goals.
He could replace Barry Douglas in the 11, which would see Ezgjan Alioski drop back into the left-back role – a position he has occupied plenty of times this term.
A win on Thursday evening could take Leeds on to 81 points, a points tally that will hand them the momentum to go on and seal promotion to the Premier League.
Since the return to football following the coronavirus pandemic, Bielsa’s side have picked up seven points in four games, bouncing back after the defeat to Cardiff City on June 21.
