Leeds United winger Jack Harrison is set to be offered a new Whites contract in the next couple of months, according to journalist Dean Jones.

The Lowdown: Harrison a great servant

The 25-year-old has been one of Leeds' most consistent performers over these last few years, initially joining on loan from Manchester City before earning his permanent move.

Harrison has now scored 29 goals and registered 25 assists in 172 appearances for the Whites, being hailed as a 'big' influence by Marcelo Bielsa during his time as manager.

The Englishman's current deal expires in 2024 but it looks as though an extension could be on its way, after interest from Newcastle this summer.

The Latest: New deal incoming?

Speaking to Give Me Sport, Jones claimed that Harrison would be offered a new contract before the end of the year:

"When Newcastle were linked with him, I was constantly told it would not happen as he was too highly rated, and now I’m being told that we should definitely expect a new contract in the next two months or so."

The Verdict: Fully deserved

Harrison fully deserves a new-and-improved contract at Elland Road, considering how well he has done since joining permanently, and he remains a key player.

There may be others in the team who are more explosive or bigger match-winners, but he possesses an eye for goal, an exceptional work ethic and supreme versatility, all of which have stood out in both the Championship and the Premier League.

At 25, Harrison's best years should also still be ahead of him, so tying him down for a number of years makes perfect sense even if the plan is to cash in as he hits his prime, ensuring the club bank a massive profit for a rising English star.
