Leeds United: Rasmus Kristensen ‘set to be announced’

Leeds United: Rasmus Kristensen ‘set to be announced’ -Leeds United News

Leeds United have completed their second transfer of the summer in the shape of Red Bull Salzburg full-back Rasmus Kristensen, according to Fabrizio Romano

The lowdown: Marsch’s fingerprints

The latest imminent arrival from Austria will follow the capture of midfielder Brenden Aaronson from Salzburg, another who played under Jesse Marsch for the Bundesliga outfit.

Kristensen made 64 appearances for the American boss during two seasons together, having been signed by the 48-year-old from Ajax, scoring four times and providing 11 assists in that time.

Having been linked for a number of weeks, with reports over the weekend revealing just the booking of a medical remained, it looks like that may now all be done and dusted…

The latest: The Romano treatment

Taking to Twitter, reputable transfer expert Romano all but rubber-stamped the switch as the Denmark international heads to Yorkshire to undergo a medical.

He said: “Done deal and confirmed. Rasmus Kristensen will undergo his medical tests with Leeds tomorrow, after full agreement reached with Salzburg. Everything completed and set to be announced, Kristensen joins Leeds on a permanent deal.”

Romano’s update came on Tuesday night, so one would assume the player is at Thorp Arch being put through his paces at this very moment.

Leeds fans, do you remember who scored your first goal of the 21/22 season?

The verdict: Orta not messing around

Following a final day Premier League survival, matters off the field are seemingly running as smoothly as ever as Director of Football Victor Orta puts Marsch’s transfer plans into gear before the window even officially opens this Friday.

Last season, the 24-year-old Kristensen – who was described as possessing ‘raw strength’ by former FC Midtjylland manager Jess Thorup – scored a remarkable 10 times and registered another eight assists in 44 outings across all competitions.

More or less operating exclusively as a right-back during 2021/22, six-times capped Denmark ace Kristensen can also play in more advanced positions, centrally and as a left-back if required, versatility which would be a welcome addition to what was at times a Leeds squad decimated by injuries last term.

With Aaronson signed and now Kristensen just a matter of days if not hours away, it’s great for supporters to see Orta is not waiting around this summer after such a quiet January – there are even reports of three youth signings set to follow the senior pair.
