Coventry City have ‘some reservations’ about Viktor Gyokeres potentially joining Leeds United in the summer, according to transfer insider Dean Jones.

The Lowdown: Gyokeres linked with Leeds

The Whites brought in Javi Gracia as their new head coach earlier this week, and an update emerged on the Sky Blues striker shortly after the Spaniard’s arrival at Elland Road.

Reports suggested that Leeds are plotting a move for the forward regardless of the division in which they find themselves next season, as they think he could be a vital addition to their squad.

Gyokeres continued his fine form in front of goal on Saturday, scoring once and registering an assist in a 2-1 win over Sunderland in the Championship.

The Latest: Jones’ comments

Jones was speaking to GiveMeSport about the Swedish striker following rumours of a move to Elland Road. The reporter claimed to have heard that the Sky Blues ‘have some reservations’ about the 24-year-old moving to Yorkshire, in a possible blow for Leeds and Gracia.

Jones said of Coventry's stance on Gyokeres: "Let's see what league they end up in because things might change, but yeah, from what I've heard, they do have some reservations about him being likely to join Leeds right now."

The Verdict: Still one to watch…

There is still time for things to change ahead of the summer transfer window, but Jones’ comments aren’t exactly ideal for Elland Road officials.

However, if Leeds remain in the top flight and Coventry stay in the second tier, then perhaps a move for the Sweden international could be more likely.

Hailed by his manager Mark Robins for his "unbelievable" power and technique, Gyokeres may be entering the final 12 months of his contract and might be open to the idea of a step up to the Premier League, where Leeds could benefit from his services alongside the likes of Patrick Bamford, Rodrigo and Georginio Rutter.
