Leeds: Journalist slams Maximilian Wober after shaky display

Leeds: Journalist slams Maximilian Wober after shaky display - Leeds United News

Leeds Live’s William Jackson has ripped into Maximilian Wober for his poor display in Leeds United’s home draw.

The Lowdown: Leeds rescue second-half point

Leeds will have been counting their lucky stars on Saturday when they walked away from Elland Road with an unlikely point against Premier League high-flyers Brighton & Hove Albion.

The Whites fell behind twice during the game but managed to rally back and pick up a hugely important point when other teams around them such as Everton and Bournemouth picked up wins.

It wasn’t the easiest of afternoons for Leeds as they were fully tested defensively by Brighton, and Wober was one of those that failed to come through it with his head held high.

The Latest: Wober struggles against Brighton

Wober, who started at centre-back, left Jackson far from impressed on Saturday afternoon, as the Austrian completed just 61% of his passes.

Handing the defender a 5/10 rating, he said: “Didn’t cover himself in glory in the build-up to Brighton’s first and could have done more to prevent Brighton’s second going in.”

The Verdict: Gracia must look for improvements

While a point at home to a side fighting for a spot in Europe will be widely regarded as a big step forward for Leeds, they need to start picking up wins rather than draws, especially when other teams around them are improving.

Leeds will know that games are starting to run out as they sit inside the bottom three with just 12 games left to play, including a host of sides currently sitting inside the top six.

Therefore, Javi Gracia will take positives from his side’s ability to fight back twice and pick up what could be a valuable point at home, but he knows that players have to step up and improve their own game, like Wober, as completing just 61% of his attempted passes is worryingly poor.
