Footage has emerged which shows Leeds United may have been hard done by during their weekend Premier League clash as there was a potential offside in the build-up to the game's only goal.

The Lowdown: Leeds on wrong end of big decision

Leeds slumped to yet another defeat which now has the Whites sitting outside the bottom three on goal difference as clubs around them picked up points over the weekend.

Jesse Marsch still finds himself in a job despite picking up just two wins in their last 15 league games - and this all while being heavily backed in the summer and January transfer windows by the Leeds board.

The Whites only managed to muster up four shots on target against Nottingham Forest, which counted towards a low expected goals ratio of 0.8, but they could feel a little aggrieved given there was an apparent offence prior to Forest winning the free kick which they scored from.

The Latest: Marsch may feel aggrieved

There was indeed still a lot Leeds could have done to prevent Brennan Johnson's impressive strike, but they shouldn't have been put in that position judging by an image to have emerged from the game.

The fact that the incident occurred right in front of the linesman should have allowed him to make what would appear to be an obvious offside call, but with no Leeds players appealing for it, that may well have put doubt into his mind.

The Verdict: Linesman makes major mistake

The fact that the incident happened in a separate phase of play means that VAR couldn't go back and check it in the aftermath of Johnson's goal, but that doesn't excuse the linesman for missing the offside.

From the image provided by one of Sky Sports' Twitter accounts, it's pretty clear that there was an offside offence prior to Forest winning a free kick, and it's those small margins that can sometimes decide a club and manager's fate.

Marsch will know he's in a lot of trouble now with very few positive results to show for since he took over from Marcelo Bielsa last season, and given the amount of investment at Leeds under the American, it is very worrying times for the Elland Road outfit.
