Leeds United director Victor Orta is focusing more of his attention on the January transfer window over a potential replacement for Jesse Marsch, according to Beren Cross.

The Lowdown: Pressure building

The Whites are currently eight games without a win in the Premier League and have fallen into the relegation zone as a result of four defeats on the spin.

Pressure appears to be mounting on Marsch, however, he looks set to be in the dugout once again this weekend against Liverpool, despite speculation surrounding his Elland Road future.

Leeds have just three more league fixtures before the break for the World Cup, and it seems as if Orta’s thoughts are on possible player arrivals over a new boss.

The Latest: Cross’ claim

Cross answered plenty of topics in a LeedsLive Q&A with one answer shared on Twitter. He said that more of Orta’s attention is actually on the winter window instead of looking at manager targets.

"The noises remain supportive around Marsch. If anything, the lion's share of Orta's attention is on the January transfer window rather than a replacement head coach."

The Verdict: Additions needed

Should Leeds stick with Marsch heading into 2023, the Whites may need a few new arrivals to help them in the second half of the season.

In hindsight, a new forward and a new left-back could have been beneficial in the summer, with Patrick Bamford struggling massively in front of goal and centre-back Pascal Struijk filling in for left-back Junior Firpo so far this season.

Therefore, those two areas of the pitch could do with strengthening in the New Year, as it seems as if the club may be in another fight to avoid relegation.
