Leeds United want to sign a left-back prior to the new season, according to The Daily Mail’s Simon Jones.

The Lowdown: Busy summer

Victor Orta has been a busy man this summer and has already finalised moves for Brenden Aaronson, Rasmus Kristensen and Marc Roca.

High-profile exits appear to be on the cards as well, with Manchester City agreeing a £42m fee with Leeds for Kalvin Phillips. Raphinha could also be on the move before the first game of the season, as he is thought to be ‘open’ to joining Arsenal.

The Latest: Left-back wanted

According to Jones' report in The Daily Mail on Saturday, Leeds are set to make a £26m bid for Club Brugge attacker Charles de Ketelaere.

He added later in the article that the Whites still want to sign another midfielder, an experienced goalkeeper and a left-back this summer.

The Verdict: Fingers crossed

There has rightly been plenty of talk regarding replacements for Phillips and Raphinha, along with competition for Patrick Bamford in attack, so this update appears to have gone under the radar, having appeared towards the end of Jones' Daily Mail report.

Leeds are short at left-back, with Junior Firpo the only senior experienced option who is fit and available for Jesse Marsch.

Stuart Dallas has played there on numerous occasions, but it is unknown when he will return from a serious leg injury, so the pursuit of a new left-back appears to be a shrewd call.

Whether or not Leeds will add to their ranks in that department remains to be seen, though, as you’d expect that their attention will be on signings further up the pitch at this moment in time.
