Leeds United reporters Phil Hay and Adam Pope both praised midfielder Weston McKennie for his display against Fulham in the FA Cup on Tuesday.

The Lowdown: Cup exit

The Whites failed to progress to the quarter-finals of the FA Cup, losing 2-0 in London to Marco Silva's side. Goals in either half from Joao Palhinha and Manor Solomon secured the win for the hosts, with Leeds' full focus now on Premier League survival.

Despite the result, it was still a promising display for large parts of the game from Javi Gracia's side, and McKennie specifically came in for praise.

The Latest: Praise for McKennie

Both Hay and Pope were present at Craven Cottage for the fixture and were quick to praise McKennie for his display.

Hay said he was 'impressed with McKennie's movement and interplay' midway through the first half, while Pope described the midfielder as 'excellent' at half-time.

The Verdict: Stats say different...

Despite the praise from the Leeds correspondents, statistically, McKennie was one of the away side's worst performers. As per SofaScore, the USA international ended with a 6.2/10 match rating - the lowest of the outfield starters.

He gave possession away 23 times, lost eight of his 10 duels and made just one tackle all evening. However, McKennie's heat map shows that he had a number of touches in various areas of the pitch, so it wouldn't come as a surprise if he was the player who covered the most distance, and he did enough to catch the eye of two Leeds correspondents at the game.
