Leeds United are thought to be tracking Watford forward Joao Pedro, according to 90min.

The Lowdown: Orta talks

The Whites have been linked with a number of forwards in recent weeks, one of which has been Pedro.

Reports earlier this month even suggested that Victor Orta was 'one step away' from signing the Brazilian on loan, but those talks seemed to have gone quite since then.

A big move for the young starlet is yet to materialise, with Newcastle the front-runners for the forward described as a ‘monster’ by journalist Sam Street.

90min provided an update on Pedro, claiming that Newcastle remain locked in talks over a deal.

They add however that the Magpies could face competition from other Premier League clubs for the forward, with Leeds thought to be keeping tabs on the situation.

The Tyneside outfit now look to be closing in on a deal for Alexander Isak too, potentially opening the door for Leeds here.

The Verdict: One to watch?

You can see why Leeds are so keen on Pedro, who can play anywhere across the front three.

He has scored 21 goals during his career and now has plenty of experience in England, both in the Championship and Premier League, so you’d expect that the 20-year-old will only improve on his already impressive game.

As per FBRef, Pedro ranks extremely high when it comes to pressures, tackles and interceptions, showing he has a brilliant work rate, something Leeds fans and Jesse Marsch would surely love.

The versatile forward also ranks near the top when it comes to dribbles completed and progressive passes and carries, so he could be the ideal addition to Marsch’s aggressive system.
