Leeds United are thought to be in the race to sign Atletico Madrid forward Matheus Cunha.

Since then, the 23-year-old has struggled to make a real impact in Spain, scoring just seven times in 54 games. He missed out on a place in Brazil’s World Cup squad as a result, and it looks as if he could be on the move again in 2023.
The Latest: Leeds still keen on Cunha
It is believed that the Whites are in the race for the forward’s services, along with Aston Villa, Everton and Wolves.
The Verdict: Pedro instead?
Cunha has been described by former Hertha Berlin boss Bruno Labbadia as a player who has “something special”, although he appears to have struggled in his 54 games as an Atletico player.
He has taken his senior goal tally to 39 but it could make sense for Andrea Radrizzani and Victor Orta to look elsewhere, with impressive Flamengo forward Pedro, who has scored 29 goals in 2022, also thought to be a target.
As we have seen in the past with Dan James, Leeds have been persistent with long-term targets. They may feel the same way with Cunha and could make their move in January.
