Leeds United are thought to be keen on signing Flamengo striker Pedro in 2023.

The Lowdown: Pedro profiled

Pedro, labelled as an "excellent finisher" by Guy Mowbray, is currently with Brazil at the World Cup in Qatar alongside former Leeds star Raphinha.

The 25-year-old has made 149 appearances for Flamengo, scoring 61 goals, 12 of which have come in 13 games in the 2022 Libertadores.

He is valued at a career-high €20m by Transfermarkt but has a €100m (£86m) release clause in his Flamengo deal.

The Latest: Transfer update

Coluna do Fla shared an update regarding Leeds and Pedro on Tuesday, with their title saying that Leeds, and by extension transfer chief Victor Orta, 'dream' of Pedro.

They claimed that the Whites want to sign a new centre-forward next year and believe the Brazilian is the ‘right name’ to arrive at Elland Road.

The Verdict: Big money?

Fabrizio Romano claimed in September that Leeds have been monitoring Pedro, and it looks as if a move could be on the cards. However, any transfer may well involve big money when you consider his release clause.

A new striker seems to be required in Yorkshire due to Patrick Bamford’s poor form and injury issues, with the forward yet to score in 2022.

Therefore, bringing in Pedro could be a wise call by Victor Orta and co, and his form in Qatar could be worth monitoring in the coming weeks, with Mowbray backing him to play a "starring" role from the bench.
