Leeds United have been scouting Rangers defender Leon King ahead of a possible future move, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The Lowdown: King profiled

King has made 17 senior appearances for the Scottish giants – ten of which have come during the current campaign.

He started in last week’s 2-0 defeat to Liverpool in the Champions League, a fixture where Whites chiefs were thought to be present to watch long-term target Ryan Kent.

18-year-old King is primarily a centre-back who can also play as a right-back or as a holding midfielder, and it looks as if Andrea Radrizzani and Victor Orta have made a first move over another exciting young addition.

The Latest: Leeds already on the move

Romano shared an update regarding King on Twitter, where Leeds were named with an interest.

He said on Tuesday that ‘many clubs are monitoring’ the centre-back, saying that ‘Leeds have already sent their scouts to follow King’.

The Verdict: Next academy addition?

King’s contract at Ibrox expires in 2024, so if his situation remains the same, Leeds may fancy their chances of securing a move in January.

His versatility could be something that appeals to the Whites, who signed Darko Gyabi and Sonny Perkins from Manchester City and West Ham respectively in the summer.

The pair have shone in the U21s and look destined for first-team football over the next 12 months, and who knows, King could be tempted over a move to Elland Road following their history of giving teenagers regular first-team opportunities since their return to the Premier League.
