Leeds United have Danish midfielder Morten Hjulmand 'in their sights', according to journalist Rudy Galetti.

The Lowdown: Hjulmand profiled

Hjulmand is 23 years of age and plies his trade with Serie A side Lecce, where he is the captain, as per Transfermarkt. Capable of playing as a defensive, central or attacking midfielder, Hjulmand is valued at a career-high €8m by Transfermarkt.

The Danish midfielder has made 76 appearances for his current employers, 17 of which have come this season, and it looks as if he is of interest to those at Elland Road.

The Latest: Leeds keen

Galetti took to Twitter on Wednesday evening to share a transfer update on Hjulmand.

He said that Leeds, along with Nottingham Forest and Leicester City have the player 'in their sights', describing it as an ‘evolving situation’.

The Verdict: One to watch?

Hjulmand is primarily a holding midfielder so could provide Jesse Marsch with another option alongside Marc Roca and Tyler Adams. That could be a wise move in the long run, especially after Mateusz Klich left the club earlier this month.

You’d like to think Hjulmand still has plenty of years to improve before hitting his prime, and he has also outperformed Whites duo Adams and Roca this season, as per WhoScored, winning four player of the match awards, so a swoop could be a smart one.
