Leeds United: Whites could hold ‘advantage’ in Charles De Ketelaere race

Leeds United: Whites could hold ‘advantage’ in Charles De Ketelaere race -Leeds United News

Journalist Pete O’Rourke has claimed that Leeds United could hold an ‘advantage’ in the race to sign Club Brugge attacking midfielder Charles De Ketelaere.

The Lowdown: Sinisterra signs

The Whites confirmed the signing of winger Luis Sinisterra from Feyenoord at lunchtime today, making him their sixth signing of the summer, after the arrivals of Brenden Aaronson, Tyler Adams, Darko Gyabi, Rasmus Kristensen and Marc Roca.

It means that they can now move on to other targets, which could be funded by the sale of Raphinha, with a move to FC Barcelona looking to be almost done.

The Latest: Leeds ‘advantage’

Speaking to The Transfer Tavern, O’Rourke has claimed that Jesse Marsch’s side could hold an ‘advantage’ over De Ketelaere’s reported favoured club AC Milan, as he claims that most players ‘would jump at the chance’ to move to the Premier League:

“I’m sure they would hope that would give them an advantage to transcend the young Belgian, but AC Milan do seem to be his preferred choice right now if he is to leave Club Brugge.

“But as you said, most players would jump at the chance to move to the Premier League, and I’m sure that’s what Leeds are hoping might stand them in good stead in this pursuit of De Ketelaere.”

Elland Road Leeds United

Leeds fans, do you remember who scored your first goal of the 21/22 season?

The Verdict: Encouraging

After reports came out that De Ketelaere favours a move to AC Milan, it is certainly encouraging to hear for the Elland Road faithful that he could still be persuaded by a move to the top flight.

Milan are such a prestigious and historic club that have just come off the back of winning the Serie A title last season (Transfermarkt), so for the Peacocks to potentially beat them to De Ketelaere’s signature would be such a huge coup.

Nonetheless, by adding him on top of Sinisterra, they will feel like they have adequately replaced the void that Raphinha looks set to leave, with De Ketelaere contributing to 28 goals in 49 appearances last season.
