# Leeds United: Paul Robinson issues Kalvin Phillips plea to Whites hierarchy

**Former Tottenham Hotspur and Leeds United ‘keeper Paul Robinson has said that the latter should ‘match’ any potential offer Kalvin Phillips receives in the future.**

England international has had quite the rise in the English game having helped Leeds to a successful promotion from the Championship to the Premier League this summer.

Earning regular high praise from [football pundits](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/leeds-united-news/kalvin-phillips-praised-alex-mcleish-england/), Phillips is now said to be attracting the interest of Spurs and reigning English champions Liverpool.

[The Mirror](https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/leeds-kalvin-phillips-50m-transfer-22861917) report the interest from the top-flight duo in the midfielder who has now also [embedded himself in Gareth Southgate’s England side.](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/kalvin-phillips/nationalmannschaft/spieler/351749/verein_id/3299)

With Spurs seemingly holding firmer interest than Liverpool, the report goes on to add that [Daniel Levy is reportedly considering](https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/leeds-kalvin-phillips-50m-transfer-22861917) a contract offer to double the player’s current salary.

And, that has prompted former Spurs and Leeds ‘keeper Robinson to comment on the future of Phillips.

### What has Robinson said regarding Phillips’ future?

Speaking exclusively to [MOT Leeds Now](https://motleedsnews.com/exclusives/type-of-player-you-build-a-team-around-exclusive-pundit-reacts-to-reported-50m-leeds-deal/), Robinson said: *“That’s a lot of money but I’d do absolutely anything to keep hold of Kalvin Phillips, he’s so vital to what Leeds do.*

*“When he’s injured he’s a huge miss for Leeds and they’re going to have to cope without him at Villa Park tonight.*

*“He’s the type of player you build a team around. You try to give him a contract that would match what he could get anywhere else.*

*“If Leeds want to stay in the Premier League and be competing for the trophies then he’s the player that needs to stay and for a team to be built around him.”*

### Can Leeds hold on to Phillips?

Currently valued at £19.8m by [Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/kalvin-phillips/profil/spieler/351749), Phillips could become the subject to a bid much greater than that valuation.

The midfielder’s rise to England regular has been quite something, but Leeds will undoubtedly do all they can to keep him at the club.

A key player for the Whites, a potential exit would see Marcelo Bielsa forced to completely rebuild his side, as Robinson alludes to with his comments on building a squad around the midfielder.

January’s transfer window could be a very interesting one…
