# Leeds United: Phil Hay delivers injury update on Diego Llorente

**Leeds United were easily [beaten](https://www.sofascore.com/team/football/leeds-united/34) by bitter rivals Manchester United – it will be a hard result to take but Marcelo Bielsa will be hoping things turn around against Burnley on Sunday. Phil Hay has provided an injury update ahead of that clash.**

### The latest update from Phil Hay

Summer signing Diego Llorente [featured](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/diego-llorente/profil/spieler/246291) for the first time recently against Chelsea after injury. However, he then suffered another [injury](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/diego-llorente/profil/spieler/246291) and hasn’t been seen since. Phil Hay has now [reported](https://twitter.com/PhilHay_/status/1340931112823119872?s=20): “Llorente due back in training this week.”

### This is good news for Leeds

Spanish football expert Guillem Balague has been full of praise for the defender in the past, [saying](https://twitter.com/GuillemBalague/status/1308360569553063936?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1308360569553063936%7Ctwgr%5E%7Ctwcon%5Es1_&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fd-11567557401128963000.ampproject.net%2F2011070101001%2Fframe.html): “Llorente is a very athletic CB who has played also as full back and CM. Quality with his feet. A top player. Fantastic with long passing and comfortable with short.”

Before joining the Premier League side, the six-cap Spain international racked up 247 club appearances and has 18 goals to his name ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/diego-llorente/transfers/spieler/246291)), so he has enough experience to come in and thrive when fit and healthy.

With Liam Cooper[suffering](https://www.premierinjuries.com/injury-table.php) an injury against Manchester United and Robin Koch currently unavailable, Llorente being close to full fitness will be a massive boost for the club.
