# Leeds United: Phil Hay ponders the future of Tyler Roberts and Adam Forshaw

**Leeds United have a [big squad](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/leeds-united/startseite/verein/399), and journalist Phil Hay is wondering whether Marcelo Bielsa could allow a couple of players to leave by the end of the season.**

### What Hay had to say about the duo

Phil Hay was discussing both Tyler Roberts and Adam Forshaw when writing for [The Athletic](https://theathletic.co.uk/), via [MOTLeedsNews.](https://motleedsnews.com/transfers/phil-hay-suggests-doubt-over-long-term-future-of-two-leeds-senior-players/) He said: “In terms of Roberts, he’s made next to no impact this season. I do wonder what the future holds for him longer term (much like Forshaw, albeit with them both at different stages of their career).”

### Would it be best for Leeds to let the players depart?

Roberts has only played 237 minutes of football this season, ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/tyler-roberts/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/296986/wettbewerb/GB1/saison/2020)) so he has been barely-used by the manager and rarely seen by supporters.

[There is hope at the club](https://www.footballinsider247.com/forshaw-set-for-leeds-united-move-in-january/) that Forshaw can move out on loan next month and return to Leeds at a later date to then compete for a first-team spot. The club are hoping to loan Forshaw out in January whenever he regains fitness, since the midfielder has played only once for the Elland Road-based side in August 2019 due to a mixture of [injuries and him not being favoured](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/adam-forshaw/profil/spieler/121257) by Bielsa.

The 29-year-old only made seven league appearances in the 2019/20 season for the Whites and racked up a rating of 6.76[(Whoscored](https://whoscored.com/Players/82972/History/Adam-Forshaw)).

The two players mentioned by Hay clearly look to be on the fringes of the squad and it makes perfect sense to see him speculating about whether they have a future at the club or not.

It looks like it would be best if the club let the two leave, at least on loan, so they could play first-team football consistently elsewhere. In terms of their long-term futures at the club, they both remain very much up in the air.
